Helpful and Informative Tools From Sarasota County

Our Beach and Park

Beach Conditions Report:

Reports from select beaches along the coast of Florida are made through ambassador observations and designed to alert and inform the public of beach conditions at participating beaches.

Sarasota County Red Tide Status and Response:

A dashboard of with extensive references and current conditions of Red Tide on Lido and other community Beaches.

Ted Sperling Park (South Lido Beach):

Get out and explore Sarasota’s beautiful waterways and coastal environment. Home to numerous bird and marine species, our waterways and coastal environment offers many opportunities for wildlife viewing.  Kayaks and paddleboards are available for rent. Explore on your own or through a scheduled guided tour.

Hazardous Waste

Residents of Sarasota County (including Lido Key) may take accepted items generated from non-business related activities to one of the County's Chemical Collection Centers for safe disposal free of charge. Proof of county residency (driver’s license, tax bill, utility bill, etc.) may be required.  For more information:   Hazardous Waste.

Legacy Trail

This popular asphalt-paved multi-use trail is more than 10 miles long and extends from Sarasota to Venice. Formerly a railroad corridor, the trail passes through a variety of unique habitats and includes a series of interpretive signs and stop stations.  For more information visit Legacy Trail Updates.

Lido Key Bus Service - On Demand

In late October of 2020, the Sarasota County Commission approved a new mobility service plan to eliminate fixed routes that were underperforming, modify fixed routes to improve performance, and sustain other routes without changes. The SCAT bus system route that serviced Lido Key was eliminated.

OnDemand by Sarasota County is a public, on-demand transit service. Think of it like a van that comes when you want, where you want.  Tell them your pickup and drop-off addresses, and they will provide a ride.  The service is also supported by a mobile app.  For more information including service areas, hours of operation and fare visit:   OnDemand by Sarasota County

The City of Sarasota is also looking into possibly adding an open-air trolley that would have key stops along a route from South Lido through downtown Sarasota.
